A Skin Care Routine for the Ages: How to Achieve Glowing, Healthy Skin

It has taken me years to hone in on the best skin care routine for my sensitive skin. And, like most things in life, as soon as I thought I had a handle on it, my skin had other ideas. It started to show my age! She gasps as she shrieks back, “Fine lines, hyperpigmenatation! Oh, the horror! Whatever will I do?”

Well…I’ll calm myself down and realize that with age comes changes in our bodies, including our skin appearance. But there are ways to help support your skin as you age. It’s not just about looking good—it’s about feeling good in your own skin and gracefully accepting the changes we all see over the years while building a healthy lifestyle. Today, I’m sharing the secrets of the ultimate skin care routine using five of my absolute favorite products. I’ll walk you through each step, explain why I love these products, and how they help me maintain healthy, radiant skin. Ready, set, go…

Step 1: Cleansing

The first step in a skin care routine for the ages is all about making sure your skin is clean. It’s essential to remove dirt, oil, makeup (not that I wear any), and impurities that accumulate on your skin throughout the day. I’ve tried a lot of cleansers, but Prequel Gleanser is hands down my current favorite.

After cleansing in the morning, my skin is ready for Vitamin C- one of the most important ingredients in my routine. It brightens the complexion, fights free radical damage from environmental stressors, and helps even out skin tone. This serum absorbs quickly and doesn’t irritate my skin, which is a big requirement for me. Lucent-C is designed to be gentle on the skin, especially if you have sensitive skin like I do. I’ve tried other Vitamin C serums in the past with zero luck and a whole-lot-ta redness. Plus, it helps combat signs of aging by promoting collagen production and reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Step 3: Hydrating

Next up is hydration, and this step is critical! I like to layer on extra hydration with CeraVe’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum before my moisturizer. Hyaluronic acid is known for its ability to hold moisture in the skin, making it a perfect addition to any skincare routine.

Step 5: Anti-Aging Power- nighttime defense!

At night, my evening routine ends with the magic of retinol. Retinol is a powerhouse ingredient when it comes to anti-aging and skin renewal; however, my sensitive skin often rejects it completely. Additionally, I would start with one night a week, building up to every night over time. And if there’s one thing you remember- never put retinol and Vitamin C on your skin together!

Olay’s Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Moisturizer is a game-changer for my nighttime skin care routine. I love that it’s fragrance-free. And it doesn’t cause the irritation that some retinol products can, making it a great option for anyone who wants to dip their toes into retinol without worrying about excessive dryness or peeling. My skin feels incredibly smooth and hydrated by morning, which is exactly what I want from a night cream.
